What is Valerian? Valeriana officinalis is a plant found in parts of Asia and Europe, that is known for it's sedative effects. Although not fully understood, it is though that the plant acts on the GABA receptors in the brain, inducing a mild, sedative effect. This is why Valerian is now banned by the FEI and Jockey Club.
How is Valerian Cordial used? Simply add two teaspoons into the horse's feed daily. For fussy eaters, introduce gradually.
