Types of Breastplate & Breastgirth

• Elastic breastgirths – A simple strap that passes around the chest and attaches to the girth on each side; the most straightforward design for preventing saddle slip; elastic inserts allow the horse to expand its chest freely during breathing
• 5-point breastplates – Feature additional attachment points at the girth and between the front legs for maximum saddle security; popular for cross-country and eventing where the most secure fit is required
• Racing & event breastgirths – Lightweight, minimal designs that provide saddle security without adding unnecessary weight; used in racing, eventing, and fast work where weight and freedom of movement are priorities
• Leather & synthetic options – Leather breastplates offer durability and a traditional appearance; synthetic designs are lighter, easier to clean, and available in a wider range of colours for cross-country colour coordination
