Poultice and medical boots allow you to apply and hold therapeutic dressings, poultices, and ice packs securely in place without the need for complex bandaging — making them one of the most practical and frequently used items in an equine first aid kit.

- Poultice boots – Soft, waterproof boots designed to hold a poultice or wet dressing against the hoof and pastern; essential for drawing out hoof abscesses and treating bruised soles
- Medical hoof boots – More structured boots that protect the hoof during box rest or light movement whilst a wound or abscess heals; some designs allow the horse to be walked short distances

When to Use Them
Poultice and medical boots are most commonly used for hoof abscesses, bruised soles, puncture wounds, and post-operative hoof care. Always follow your vet's guidance on dressing type, frequency of change, and when to seek further veterinary attention if improvement is not seen within 48–72 hours.
